PORTRAITS – CAPTURING PERSONALITY

Taking a portrait of someone is not as straightforward as pointing the camera and pressing a button. Lighting is key and the right settings on the camera make an enormous difference. The true challenge is connecting with your sitter and putting them at ease and only then can you start shooting.

I prefer a quite laid back approach – a chat, a few questions and let them know that it’s not easy being in front of my camera and I will try to make it as easy and enjoyable as possible. I usually show a client the first few shots I’ve taken and they see themselves looking good (if I’ve done my job right!) and you can watch them visibly relax.

As for the saying – never work with animals or children – I love working with both!
